Treasures of Solitude: The Botanical Illustrations of Bellamy Parks Jansen

Ray and Faye Graves Photographic Studio Collection
Description: The Graves Collection of approximately 1,100 glass plate negatives comprises the extant works of two Chadron, Nebraska, photographers – Ray and Faye Graves – whose combined careers spanned from 1906-1940. These images have been digitized and printed for the exhibition. The Collection is primarily portraits, with some Native American and African American images. The exhibit can be modified for a specific venue.

Treasures of Solitude: The Botanical Illustrations of Bellamy Parks Jansen
Description: Art and botany come together in the works of Colorado artist, and Nebraska native, Bellamy Parks Jansen. Ms. Jansen’s botanical illustrations of plants native to the Great Plains region have won her acclaim as both an artist and plant taxonomist. Ms. Jansen has been working as a professional botanical illustrator for 24 years and her work has been published in over 70 publications throughout the United States.

Old Jules Country
Description: The exhibit features the photographs of Kira Gale and quotations from the literary works of Mari Sandoz which portray the contemporary landscape and historical sites familiar to the story of “Old Jules” by Mari Sandoz. The exhibit includes interpretative and supplemental reference materials.
